ALL THE WINNERS OF INTERNATIONAL COFFEE TASTING ASIA 2017
The eleventh edition of the international competition organized by the International Institute Coffee Tasters (Iliac) was held in Guangzhou, China 39 coffee gold medals were awarded to Italy, Canada, China, Korea, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand

The eleventh edition of International Coffee Tasting took place in Guangzhou (China), this year in the Asian version. 162 coffees from nine countries of the world, (Australia, Canada, China, Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand).participated in this edition
To judge them, 28 tasters of the International Institute Coffee Tasters (Iiac), all Asian professionals.




As always, International Coffee Tasting distinguishes itself for a strong rigor both in the tasting method and the
scores assignment with a minimum threshold to get to the medal and a cut of at least of 30% maximum of the samples in competition” has commented Mr. Carlo Odello counsellor of IIAC and director of this edition of the competition.
We note a significant qualitative growth in coffees produced in the so-called new Asian markets and a positive affirmation of the Italian coffees that manage to balance structure and aromatic richness


The Asian market is probably the largest laboratory of the coffee in the world right now. "The vast majority of the countries from this area come from the tea culture and in this sense the light roasting which are close to fruity floral and acidic notes of filter coffee can well satisfy the palate of new consumers – Mr. Odello said On the other hand, the espresso, including the Italian one, plays an increasingly important role, especially when it lends itself as a base for milk-based drinks, so loved in this part of the world. The espresso in purity is cult object for a few connoisseurs ".

WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF COFFEE TASTERS (IIAC)
The International Institute of Coffee Tasters (IIAC) is a non-profit organization that lives only on social shares. It was founded in 1993 with the aim to develope and spread a scientific method for coffee tasting. Since its foundation the Institute has carried out hundreds of courses attended by almost 11,000 students from more than 40 countries in the world. The Espresso Italiano Tasting manual, published in Italian and English, has been translated into Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Thai. The International Institute of Coffee Tasters (Iiac) is equipped with an important scientific committee that plans research in order to guarantee the innovation of the sector: university professors technicians and professionals belong to it.
